Holsum Bakery Participates in City of Hope "Walk for Hope" Race Event

Holsum Bakery sampled their new Aunt Hattie's All Natural breads on Sunday October 5 at the Annual city of Hope "Walk for Hope" 5K run/walk. The course offered fun for everyone, as it meandered through the Phoenix Zoo. This event offered music, entertainment, a Kids Zone, refreshments and of course a sample loaf of Aunt Hattie's new All Natural bread.

Events began with participant registration at 6:00 a.m., then at 7:30 the times 5K run began. Five minutes later the timed walk kicked off, then at 7:40 a.m. the leisure walk commenced. Over 6,000 runners and walkers participated to raise money in support of breast cancer research for the non-profit organization. City of Hope is researching the molecular origins of breast cancer to seek out what causes this cancer and find a way to stop it, as well as the hereditary and genetic factors that increase an individual's risk of breast cancer.

Each variety of Aunt Hattie's new All Natural breads are named after a southwest location such as "Sedona 9-grain" and "Grand Canyon 100% Whole Wheat". Each one is made with natural ingredients such as whole grains, unbleached flours, and non-hydrogenated oils. These low fat breads are available in area grocery stores starting Monday October 6, 2003. Throughout the Southwest, AUNT HATTIE'S is the consumers' brand of choice for fresh baked home-style variety breads and rolls, as well as for All Natural grain breads.

Funds raised through the Walk for Hope go directly to City of Hope's ongoing efforts to fight breast cancer by addressing all aspects of the disease, from prevention and early diagnosis to advanced treatment and ultimately, finding a cure for the disease. Ed Eisele, President and owner of Holsum Bakery, Inc. is former Chairman and an Executive Board Member of the City of Hope Southwest Food Industries Circle.
