AUNT HATTIE'S FACILITY EARNS SUPERIOR RATING FROM AIB
The American Institute of Baking (AIB) announced today that Holsum Bakery of Phoenix, Arizona, producer of Aunt Hattie's bakery products earned their highest rating, a "Superior", during their recent plant inspection. Holsum's Director of Operations, Hugh Coker, said "We are extremely pleased with our score of 965 at our Tolleson facility and believe our rating speaks to our consistent quality and the professionalism and commitment of each our associates who make this happen every day."
The AIB, located in Manhattan, Kansas, performs independent inspections for bakeries all over the globe. "Less than 5% of the bakery inspections AIB performs annually will rate over a 900 to obtain a Superior Rating", according to Dennis Hill, head of Food Safety for Holsum. "We keep our customers in mind and work hard to achieve the best facility maintenance possible, and scores such as this show we are successful at being the best."
The score, out of a possible 1000 points, includes all facets of food safety, which include, adequacy of food safety program, good manufacturing practices, maintenance for food safety, pest control, cleaning practices from rafters to floors. Inspections are unannounced and take from 1 to 3 days to complete. Many national customers rely on AIB inspection scores for plant compliance; a score of 800 would be considered very acceptable in the industry.
Since 1881, Holsum's skilled bakers have won many national awards for excellence of their quality products. Some of their brands include Aunt Hattie's, All Natural Recipes, Pan de Casa, Smart Kids, Deli Best and Town Talk.
