Holsum Bakery, Inc., established in 1881, is Arizona's oldest family owned business and today is the largest supplier of bread, buns, and rolls in the Southwest. Edward Eisele, the current Owner and President, is the grandson of the company founder.
Holsum Bakery is the market-share leader in Arizona for commercial baked bread and bun products, and is one of only three independent bakeries in the U.S. that supplies buns to a certain major fast food chain. Fresh Holsum Bakery products are delivered daily by over 200 independent distributors.
Throughout its history, Holsum has been a pioneer in its industry, and was the first to sell sliced bread in Arizona and produced enriched bread prior to federal requirements. Holsum Bakery was the first in this area to use sanitary waxed paper wrappers. Holsum is a market leader, and the company consistently invests to expand its business in an industry in which small bakeries are now closing or selling to larger organizations.
Holsum associates bake bread products in three Valley of the Sun facilities. The Phoenix facility was originally constructed in 1947, and serves today as the company headquarters, producing a wide variety of baked goods daily. Buns and rolls are primarily produced in Holsum's Tempe facility, and other breads are baked in the state-of-the-art Tolleson, Arizona bakery. In all, Holsum owns and operates nine depots and nine outlet stores in Arizona today.
