Chocolate Bread Pudding

cup sugar |
| 2 |
cups milk |
| 2 |
squares unsweetened chocolate |
| ¼ |
teaspoon salt |
| 1 |
tablespoon butter |
| 4 |
slices Aunt Hattie's Homestyle Buttermilk bread |
| 1 |
egg |
| 1 |
teaspoon vanilla |
| 1 |
cup heavy cream or whipped cream |

Preheat oven to 325°.

In a pan over low to medium heat, bring sugar, milk, chocolate, salt and butter to a low boil, stirring often.

Set aside and cool.

In a small bowl, beat egg and vanilla.

Pour into a shallow baking dish.

Cut bread into bite-sized pieces and place evenly into baking dish.

Cover with chocolate mixture.

Bake for one hour.

Serve hot with heavy cream or whipping cream.
