Chocolate Bread Pudding
 

Servings: Serves 4
½ cup sugar
2 cups milk
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
4 slices Aunt Hattie's Homestyle  Buttermilk bread
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup heavy cream or whipped cream

 

  1. Preheat oven to 325°.

  2. In a pan over low to medium heat, bring sugar, milk, chocolate, salt and butter to a low boil, stirring often.

  3. Set aside and cool.

  4. In a small bowl, beat egg and vanilla.

  5. Pour into a shallow baking dish.

  6. Cut bread into bite-sized pieces and place evenly into baking dish.

  7. Cover with chocolate mixture.

  8. Bake for one hour.

  9. Serve hot with heavy cream or whipping cream.
